SMOG-P successfully accomplished its mission

Today SMOG-P entered the Earth’s atmosphere and completed its mission as a tiny shooting star. We are very proud of this little satellite. In addition to setting a new world record, it completed more than three times the expected lifetime.

It operated in space for 297 days, during which time it orbited our planet nearly 5000 times. The mission ended with complete success, even during the last passage fresh data was downloaded.
The world’s first map about electromagnetic pollution was completed from its data and many technological experiments were carried out. The decrease of the orbit altitude proved to be slower for ATL-1, but it will soon follow SMOG-P with also a completely successful project closure. The team is already preparing the SMOG-1 satellite that will be launched to a higher altitude orbit that will give a longer duration for the scientific measurements.
